Head Coach - Missy Hayden
This is Coach Missy's fourth year as Head Coach for DCST. Missy is also the Head Coach for the year round swim team Prince William Swim Club Amberjax (PWSC) for going on three years. She coached there for seven years prior to being promoted to Head Coach. She grew up in the water on a competitive swim team. She actually started swimming on PWSC at the age of 3. Swimming is second nature to her. Missy’s mother and grandmother coached competitive swim teams for Missy’s entire life. In fact, her mother and grandmother have over 65 years of combined competitive swim team coaching experience. Missy also coached summer swim. She was an Assistant Head Coach for Veterans Park Summer Swim Team for 1999-2000, and Head Coach for Veterans, 2000-2003. She has a Level 3 certification from the American Swimming Coaches Association. Other swim credentials include: Coaches’ Safety Instructor (CSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), First Aid, and CPR certifications. She is a mother of 3, Alicia age 12, Corina age 7, and JJ age 5. Missy and her husband Joe, have made Prince William County their home and have become a part of our all hearts. They are definitely FROGGY FOLK who love children, fun, swimming and family. Coach Missy has a passion for swimming & a passion for the FROGS. She looks forward to another FROGTASTIC season and "finding the best in every swimmer!" RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RAH, RAH, RAH, GO FROGS GO!
This is my fourth year as a coach for the Dale City Frogs. It is an honor and a pleasure to be associated with such a great team. My coaching career began as a swim instructor for Swim America where I learned, not only detailed techniques and skills but the reasoning behind them; allowing me to convey a clear message to the swimmers. After my tenure with Swim America I moved on to do private lessons, teaching one on one. This allowed me to dedicate time in teaching children not only the great sport of swimming but also the joy. From private lessons I moved onto coaching year round with the Prince William Swim Club (PWCS) also known as The Amberjax. I had the distinct pleasure of swimming with the Amberjax for over 10 years. I also have experience with health and nutrition, not only in weight loss and weight management but the interaction between food and the body which allows me to educate swimmers on how an athlete is able to utilize food maximizing their output - not only for swimming but in every day life.
Hi! My name is Melody & I'm a student at Grace Preparatory School in Stafford where I'll be a senior this fall. I enjoy volleyball, tennis, singing, teaching Sunday School, reading & especially writing. I have been swimming with the Frogs for nine years and in those years have discovered not only the incredible joy of swimming but the power of positive thinking and hard work. I am so excited to be able to pass the same legacy on to a community of swimmers and parents that makes swimming with the Frogs a joy and a privilege. I cannot begin to describe my enthusiasm to be a coach for such a wonderful team, one that has taught me so much! My experience with the Frogs has been one that I hope to pass on to every swimmer so that hard work, positive attitude, having fun & the delight of swimming will stretch swimmers to grow in and out of the pool. Go Frogs!
This is Kirk's second year as a coach for DCST. He coached with year round swim team PWSC-Amberjax. Kirk also worked as a lifeguard & aquatics manager at Dale City Rec Center. |

I started swimming competitively when I was 9 on the Frogs! I then swam year round on the Amberjax until I was in HS. I swam on Hylton's swim team for a year, and when Forest Park opened, I was on the school's first swim team. We were so small we only had 20 swimmers on the team that first year! I continued on the team all through high school and made the regional team twice. When I was in college, I swam all four years at Randolph-Macon College, where I excelled at distance swimming. My favorite events in college were the 500 & the 1650 freestyle. My favorite moment was my sophomore year of college when I swam the mile in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Finals and I won my heat. That was the first time I swam this event in a college meet! I'm very excited to be back again coaching for the Frogs for my 6th season and I look forward to lots of very fast swims from everyone! |
